Something I'm always reminded of is that you never know who is watching.
Today, I got tagged on a post on Linkedin that made my entire week:
Todd's been following me for what seems to be close to a year. Since then he's dropped 65 lbs 🤯
It's a reminder that for some people, social media is a curse. It can make them angry, sad, and depressed while constantly comparing themselves to others.
For the smart ones (yes, I'm talking about you) they use it to make their lives better.
The past 3 years of growing an audience have taught me that social media is neither good nor bad. It's neutral.
The difference is in the people you follow and the information you consume.
If you've been following me here in the newsletter or on social I just want to say thank you.
Thank you for allowing me to do what I love while putting out information that helps people live better lives.
If there's one thing I'm grateful for it's you.
That being said...
Here is your 4 Minute Friday:
1. Do This Exercise To Become Smarter
A meta-study was done to see the effect that different types of workouts had on brain function.
They collected 54 randomized control trials with 6277 participants and found something interesting...
The first part is that they found that all types of exercise improve your brain through global cognition, executive function, memory, attention, and information processing.
Yet strength training and endurance training were found to be the most effective at improving overall brain function.
It also showed that while every age benefited the people it affected most were ages 60 and above.
This is why strength training and walking are pillars in our private coaching and Lean Body 90 program.
They're not just for getting your body fit. They're for getting your brain fit as well.
2. A Supplement To Protect Your Brain Health (Sponsored)
If you've read this newsletter you know I've spoken at length about the benefits of magnesium.
In short, it is an essential mineral that plays a crucial role in your nervous system, muscle function, and energy production.
It affects your sleep, stress levels, and ability to function on a day-to-day basis. It also affects your long-term brain health.
A new study, that involved over 6,000 participants, found that a higher intake of magnesium in our diets from a younger age may protect against neurodegenerative diseases and cognitive decline by the time we reach our 40s.
It's been shown that up to 75% of us aren’t getting enough, leading the lack of magnesium to be called the “invisible deficiency.”
This is because of the way our foods have been grown as well as the prevalence of processed foods.
Magnesium is a supplement I take every day and night to ensure that my brain and body work efficiently. If you're not taking this I would highly recommend to test it out.
The brand I use is Natural Stacks.
I know the founder and trust the quality he puts into his products. I'm an avid user of his product so I asked him to sponsor this email.

3. Avoid This Toxic Cooking Pan
A study done by the Science of Total Environment simulated a cooking process with non-stick pans.
They found that non-stick cookware coated with Teflon may release 9100 microplastic particles during the cooking process.
If there was a scratch or a crack in the pan they found up to 2,300,000 microplastics and nanoplastics can be released making their way into your food.
The cracks and scratches are a problem as they release a group of chemicals known as PFAS (polyfluorinated substances) also known as forever chemicals.
These don't break down in the environment, contaminate soil & water, and build up in the bodies of living creatures.
Increased human exposure to PFAS potentially leads to health impacts like altered metabolism, increased risk of being overweight or obese, and reduced ability to fight infections.
The best alternative to use is a cast iron pan.
If you insist on using a non-stick pan make sure to not scratch or crack them and to change them out at least every 5 years.
Client of the week - MW, Entrepreneur.
MW is an entrepreneur who struggled with a sweet tooth and bad eating habits.
His main goal was to lose weight, increase energy, and improve her health.
In one year, she's dropped 51 lbs, 5 inches off his waist & her energy levels are through the roof!
Our strategy:
- Put her hunger on a circadian schedule that fits her sleep and wake times.
- Cleaned up her diet and increased her protein intake so she could build muscle.
- Workouts were focused on strength training & walking
One Quote to Finish Your Week Strong
"There comes a point where we need to stop just pulling people out of the river. We need to go upstream and find out why they’re falling in."
A good question to ask yourself today: How much time are you spending trying to treat the symptoms rather than the causes?
If you treat symptoms you get to keep the problems. If you treat the causes you get to solve them.
Where is your energy pointed towards?
